# Box Walks

> Box Walks is a registered charity (England & Wales no. 1214903) in Richmond upon Thames, London. It restores grade II listed red phone boxes and uses them as destination points on free, nature-based walks. Visiting a box with the free Box Walks app unlocks interactive content, games, quizzes and practical environmental actions.

- 11 phone boxes, each with a name and a theme: Bertie (biodiversity), Sophie (sustainable food), Cara (climate change), Freddy (fungi), Peter (plastics), Polly (pollinators), Ralph (resource circularity), Ted (climate hope), Tilly (trees), Walter (water), Wendy (wetlands).
- 11 walks on 5 routes, from 3.1 km / 50 min (Richmond Green loop via Terrace Gardens) to 13.7 km / 3 h 35 min (Kew Green to Barnes via Richmond Park).
- The walks are free. The app is free on the App Store and Google Play.
- Group walks are ticketed via Eventbrite. Businesses can become a "box donor" from £2,000 to fund a box restoration.
- Founded by Emma Howcroft (chair) and Harry Guest. Launched 13 June 2026.
